Kumbhalgarh & Ranakpur in one day
The classic Mewar loop, in the only order that actually works. Two of Rajasthan's great buildings, 190 km, home before dark.
Udaipur to Mount Abu
165 km of NH27, then a hill climb that changes the temperature by ten degrees. Rajasthan's only hill station, and the best sustained driving in Mewar.
Haldighati & Nathdwara, half a day
The shakedown drive. Ninety kilometres round trip, back by lunch, and the easiest way to get comfortable on Rajasthan roads before you attempt anything longer.
Chittorgarh, properly
700 acres of fort that most visitors see a quarter of, because they try to walk it. You have a car — drive the plateau.
Monsoon Mewar
July to September, when the lakes fill, the Aravallis go green and everyone else stays home. The most beautiful Udaipur gets, and the least crowded.
